For the last three years, Sylvia Tervoort (32), who became a student of Rob Peetoom in 1997, has been education manager at the Academy, which is situated in a spacious, light building in Amsterdam. Every week, dozens of juniors and stylists of all levels train in the Academy’s main hall, which is filled with chairs with wash basins, long tables and a large-screen TV with chairs in front of it. ‘Hairdressers are very visually oriented,’ she says. ‘For this reason, we use many photos and videos during the training.'
Info about Rob Peetoom Academy
“We awaken the beauty of our customers and get the best out of our employees."
At Rob Peetoom’s salons, "youngsters" from the hairdressing academies complete traineeships as junior hairdressers. Via the Rob Peetoom Academy, they can then become stylists, senior stylists or even top stylists. However, whatever rank they reach, they continue to train.
They not only learn techniques, they also learn to work according to the Rob Peetoom philosophy: "What suits you makes you beautiful". In order to see how that works, it is important that you first learn to look and listen before making the first cut.
The Academy offers hairdressing and hair-colouring techniques on many different levels, from Basic to Editorial. Twice a year, make-up courses and training sessions in the Anastasia Brow Treatment are given. Exams are held for each of the modules.
